FAQs
These are some of the most commonly asked questions we receive at City Tractor Co.
What type of gas should I put in my snow blower?
- Always use clean, fresh gasoline purchased within the current season.
- Make sure your gas can is clean and free of sediment or rust.
- If you are pumping fuel from a single-hose pump, be sure to pump 4-5 gallons of fuel into your car first to be sure you aren't filling your gas can with the fuel choice form the person using the pump before you.
- Use only non-ethanol fuel. If the pumps are not marked for content of alcohol or ethers, check ethanol and MTBE levels with the fuel supplier.
Note: Do not modify the fuel system on your machine to use different fuels
Ariens® recommends that you also use a high-quality fuel stabilizer. This will help keep your fuel and carburetor clean. It is good practice to use this with regular fill ups, not just storage. Mix the gasoline according to the instructions on the stabilizer container.
Do I run my lawn mower/trimmer/or snow blower out of gas at the end of the season?
- No. Our manufacturer's recommend that a fuel stabilizer be mixed with the gasoline at the end of the season and run through the machine for several minutes. This allows the fuel stabilizer to reach all parts of the engine for safe off-season storage.
- Our Parts counter recommends using STIHL MotoMix®... a patented premixed fuel, specially blended for ultimate performance. Like a sports drink for your engine, it's a combination of premium non-ethanol, high-octane motor fuel and high-quality STIHL HP Ultra Oil. Clean and convenient, it eliminates the hassle of mixing your own 2-stroke engine fuel while providing superior performance and lubrication. STIHL MotoMix® contains no ethanol, allowing it to maintain stability for up to two years after the seal is broken - so it stays fresh in your equipment during long storage periods.
Can I use ethanol in my power equipment?
- Our manufacturer's recommend that ethanol NOT be used in any engine under 25 horsepower. It is best to NOT use ethanol in any small engine.
